Girls Ichabod Crane, led by trainer Megan Yeats, have won three consecutive Colonial Council titles and four Section II titles. In addition, Coach Yeats sent six players to the individual section championships this year. All six won their first round matches. Shannon Ingham reached the second round in singles, as did Gieger / Mr Brennan’s doubles team. The Sandagato / Lantzy doubles team reached the round of 16 and Elise Brennan reached the singles quarter-finals.
Saturday’s game concluded the high school careers of seniors Shannon Ingham and Elise Brennan. Ingham has been a key part of the Rider’s double success over the past four years. Brennan is a six-year-old singles starter and has been in first place since her first year.
While the Riders will miss the contributions of Brennan and Ingham, Coach Yeats will have a strong returning squad and will certainly be in the hunt for the 2022 Championship.
